Deloris (Dee) Mae Haston, 92, of Greensburg, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at Morning Breeze. Dee was born on February 27, 1932 in Anderson, IN, the daughter of Pastor Jasper Shaw and Nettie Shaw. On June 11, 1955 Dee married Douglas Haston after being introduced to him by friends. Douglas preceded her in death.
Dee is survived by her three children; Karla (Jerry) Creech, Doug (Trish) Haston, and Pastor Brian (Dawn) Haston. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and 10 great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Clarence and Ed Shaw; and her husband.
In 1951, Dee graduated from Anderson High School. After school, she started her career at Delco Remy. They started their family in Anderson, and in the 1960’s they moved to Greensburg where she started working at Bohn Aluminum where many friends were made.
Dee was a firm believer in God and His Word, and started teaching Sunday School at Bible Baptist Church. When she was able, she spent every Sunday at Cornerstone Baptist Church where she loved her church family.
She loved gardening and sewing and was often seen making items for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved puzzles and had one on her table at all times. Every Thursday, Dee would play cards at 10:00 am with her friends. Her favorite was Hand and Foot.
A visitation for family and friends will be Monday, December 23, 2024 from 10:00 – 11:00 am at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 105 E Barachel Lane, Greensburg. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 am with Pastor Chuck Gerrian officiating. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Cornerstone Baptist Church.
