Charles "Russell" Meyerrose

Charles “Russell” Meyerrose, 86, of Greensburg, passed away at 6:15AM on Saturday, September 12, 2015. He was born April 4, 1929, in Decatur County, to the late William Edward and Minnie Lange Meyerrose. He married Virginia “Ginnie” Laudick on January 27, 1951 in Batesville at St. Louis Catholic Church. She preceded him in death.

Russell retired from Swift-Eckrich in 1992 after 33 years in sales. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Greensburg Lions Club, the American Legion Welsh Crawley Kramer Post in Greensburg and the VFW. Russell also served as a precinct committeeman, bailiff of the Circuit Court and was an avid supporter of Greensburg Athletics. Russell loved vacationing in Traverse City, MI and Gulf Shores, AL. He also served in the F-Company 50 G-INF, 101st Airborne Division out of Camp Breckenridge, KY.

Russell is survived by sons and daughters-in-law: Mike and Juli of Lafayette, IN, Greg and Karen of Greensburg, Scott and Sarah of Pickerington, OH, Doug of Cleveland, OH and Cathy Meyerrose of Noblesville, IN; grandchildren Heather (Brandon) Blankenship, Dustin, Alan, Ashley (Alister), Shelby, and Nathan (Maddie); great grandchildren Carter, Kennedi and Tenley Blankenship and Nora Meyerrose. He is also survived by five nephews and two nieces. He was preceded in death by brothers Howard, Arthur, Wendell and Paul; son Timothy and grandson Matthew.

The family would like to acknowledge and sincerely thank the entire staff at Aspen Place and Our Hospice of Decatur / Shelby for looking after Russell with the utmost love, compassion, patience and understanding. Their care of him and support to his family will always be remembered and will hold a special place in his family’s hearts.

A Rosary will be prayed on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at 4:30pm with visitation following from 5PM – 8PM at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home. Russell’s Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Thursday, September 17 at 10AM with Fr. John Meyer officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
