Sylvia Taylor 84, of Pleasant Garden, died January 4, 2024, in the presence of her daughters who held her hands while extending loving and peaceful encouragement to her as she calmly passed. A viewing will be held Sunday, January 7, at Hanes-Lineberry, where the family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00, pm. The burial viewing will be at Westminster Gardens in the Mausoleum on Monday, January 8, at 11:00 am.
Sylvia was born October 10, 1939, in Greensboro, NC, the daughter of Otis Paul Saunders and Blanche Loman Saunders. She graduated from Pleasant Garden High School in 1957. She worked at Bank of America for many years. Together with her husband of 67 years, Sylvia tackled projects with conviction, pride, and a sense of duty to complete. She was a wizard at stretching paychecks and was a role model for spending within her means while still providing for her family. She and Otis loved to visit new places and instilled that sense of travel and wonder to their children. Although shy, Sylvia loved to spend time in laughter with her close friends and family. Her tasty meals rivaled any Southern restaurant chain; her popular banana pudding created long lines at the dessert table during family gatherings.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Otis Lamar Taylor, of Greensboro; daughters Dianne Turner of Pleasant Garden and Deb Taylor of Topeka, Kansas; sons, Stephen Taylor and Chris Taylor, both of Pompano Beach, Florida; brother, Ken (Charlotte) Saunders of Pleasant Garden; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Jack Saunders and Charles Saunders, and her sister, Barbara Taylor, all of Greensboro.
