I am so sorry to hear about Stuart’s passing. I have such fond memories of growing up alongside him and Kay through our early preteens and 20’s.   I was always fascinated at the charts he would make for certain events that interested him. Prayers to his family. May he rest in peace. .  🙏

I taught yoga at a facility that Stuart was a part of. We didn't have much interaction; however, every time I would come to teach yoga I would pass by Stuart. Every single time he would turn around and we would wave and smile at each other both when I was arriving and when I was leaving. He had such a kind smile and enthusiastic wave that will be greatly missed by all who were around him!

I had the privilege of teaching Stuart at the Central NC School for the Deaf. I believe he was in the third grade. Stuart was such a sweet soul with a beautiful smile and was always eager to learn. I remember him being my best math student and having meticulous handwriting.  I have often thought about Stuart and wondered what he was doing and where he was. Unfortunately, no one really knew. Sorrow filled my heart when a past student sent me his obituary but knowing that he had a happy life surrounded by people who loved him dearly and whom he loved , and seeing him so happy in all the pictures posted helped ease the sorrow I felt.

Though I never met Stuart personally, I have had the opportunity in receiving stories from his family. This shows the love and support so evident in the family. I send thoughts of strength and the bond of your family during this time.
May each memory live in your heart and on those really hard days, give you a smile.

As Stuart’s godmother I have known him since the day he was born and he held a very special place in the hearts of my late husband, Stan, and myself.  Before the family moved to the States we were very involved in Stuart’s life and he was a little gem.   We visited the States over the years and saw how my dear friend Jill and my husband’s cousin, Ken, - Stuart’s parents - fought tirelessly for his well-being along with his sister Kay.   We saw how supportive his extended family and carers were, and I was so pleased that Stuart was able to visit the UK last year which hopefully brought back happy memories of past times for him.
This is a very sad time for us all – coping with grief is not easy but I hope that the happy memories of Stuart sustain his lovely family, his carers and those that knew him in the difficult days ahead.
Stuart is now with those who passed away before him including my husband and I would like to think they are fixing a game of golf on that special course in sky!



I recently learned of Stuart’s passing.  I wanted to send my condolences. It has been many years since I met Stuart at the summer day sports camp for deaf children.  I enjoyed being his camp partner and he taught me some BSL. Stuart’s mother gifted me a BSL book which I still have. As I assisted Stuart at the camp, he helped me by being able to use a little BSL when I visited England years later in 2001.

The photo is weathered and worn, and has been on display in my office for a very long time as a reminder and Thank You to Stuart - the person who originally helped connect me to CSDHH many, many years ago.

Jill, Ken, Terry, Janet, and Kay - I am so very saddened to learn of Stuart's passing.  I owe much to Stuart and his family, as it was my acquaintance with Stuart that connected me with CSDHH for my first sign language class.  I have many fond memories of  my time working with Stuart in the mid 90's when he was driving his red car, working full-time and bowling actively in several leagues per week.   These memories include several fun trips with Stuart and his roommates to the beach, the mountains and Carowinds.  Outside of sign language, I learned many things from Stuart like the value of a good sauce for meat and the joy of sparklers and other fun decorations for birthdays.  Stuart was loved deeply by his family and he cared for them equally as much.  Thank you to everyone who supported Stuart throughout his life.
