Steve graduated from Penncrest High School in Media, PA, Class of ’67 and Pennsylvania State University in University Park, PA, Class of ’71.
He moved to Greensboro, NC in 1972 with his wife Kathy to begin a 40+ year career in self-employed sales. Thomco, Inc. was a family owned and operated business for many years. It serviced the food packaging industry. He was a long-time member of the Meat Packing Association of North Carolina.
When Steve was not working, he loved spending time with his family while traveling, snow skiing, golfing, and cooking. He was a lifetime lover of sports, he was the number 1 fan of the PSU Nittany Lions, Philadelphia Eagles, and the Philadelphia Phillies. Steve was a past member of the Greater Greensboro Jaycees. His heart was in Missions with his local Church. He spent many years on the Missions Team at Westover Church in Greensboro. He met many lifelong friends through travels to visit missionaries.
Steve was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, companion, and friend.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Mike Thompson.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Melissa Thompson Kenyon of Greensboro; his son Stephen (Steve) Thompson and wife April of Oriental, NC; his only granddaughter, the apple of his eye, Hailey Brooke Kenyon of Greensboro; his sister Anne Smith; two nephews Brandon and Timothy Smith of Charlotte, NC; his loving companion and caretaker for the past 15 years, Debbie Croft of the home; and former wife and friend Kathy Thompson.
