Sandra grew up in Indiana on the shores of Lake Michigan and met her lifelong love and husband of 56 years, David, as a senior at Purdue University. She was a high school teacher of many subjects, but most importantly, Sandra was a wife, mother and grandma. Sandra was a selfless servant in all that she did for her community and family. Her contributions were as visible as colonizing a new Alpha Phi chapter and leading the Greensboro Symphony Guild. Just as important to Sandra was dedicating her time to the library at First Presbyterian Church and time to whatever her family or friends needed, whenever it was needed. She was a gracious host, avid fan on many sidelines, and source of strength and guidance to many. All those she knew or helped will miss her and the loving example she set for everyone.
She leaves behind her husband David; three daughters, Kelly (and Joe) Pledger of Charlotte, Kristi (and Mo) McCord of Greensboro, and Kori (and Lee) Thompson of Mooresville; eight grandchildren, Collin, Kristopher, Carson, Katie, Ashleigh, Todd, Lauren and Liza Grace. She is also survived by siblings Carla (and Gib) Milkereit and Bill (and Yonnie) Pope, and many other loving extended family members and friends.
The Memorial Service will be at First Presbyterian Church, 617 North Elm Street, Greensboro, NC on Friday, July 9, 2021 at 11:00am. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Service, 515 North Elm Street, Greensboro, NC. Please feel free to park in the Hanes-Lineberry parking lot before the service.
