Bob was born in Greensboro on April 13, 1945 to Ruth and Odell Lambeth, who predeceased him. He grew up here, attending Brooks Elementary School, where he was elected School Treasurer, Kiser Junior High and Greensboro/Grimsley Senior High. In high school, among a number of activities, he was a member of The Queens Men, legendary male quartet known for bringing entertainment not only to the school but throughout the community as well. Music was always a big part of Bob’s life.
Following graduation from high school, Bob enlisted in the United States Marines and proudly served until his honorable discharge in 1971. While in the Marine Reserves, he attended Guilford College, where he was a member of the golf team and earned an AB degree in Psychology.
Bob had many interests and pursuits, but spent the majority of his working career in the insurance field, concentrating primarily on employee benefit plans. He was an avid lover of golf, and played often for many years as time and health permitted. One of his fondest memories was playing in the GGO Pro-Am in a foursome with Arnold Palmer and actor Fred MacMurray.
Survivors include a son, J. Christian Lambeth (wife Holly) of Charlotte, three loving grandsons, brothers Dr. Jay O. Lambeth (Phyllis) of Greensboro and Jon Theodore “Ted” Lambeth (Cathy) of Milwaukie, Oregon, former wife Sandra C. A memorial service for Bob will be held on Sunday, January 15 at 3:00pm in the sanctuary of St. Paul Presbyterian Church, 2300 Old Chapman St. in Greensboro, conducted by the pastor, his brother Jay. Prior to the service, family and friends will gather in the church fellowship hall beginning at 2:00pm.
