Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, October 2, 2014, at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery.
Born October 19, 1916, in Randolph County, to the late Thomas Erastus and Cornie Lineberry Routh, “Shorty” was of the Methodist faith. He was blessed with almost 98 years of life, still lived in his own home, maintained his own yard and was still doing his daily chores up until the day of his passing. “Shorty” was the owner and operator of Save Right Grocery Store for many years. He enjoyed gardening, listening to gospel music, watching college basketball, NASCAR, and baseball. He was an avid Braves fan. “Shorty” just loved life, working, and most of all spending time with his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Glenna Allred Routh; a sister, Christine R. Haithcox; brothers, Kenneth Routh and his twin brother, Clifford Routh.
Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Thomas Routh and wife Joyce of Kennesaw, GA, Richard “Dicky” Routh, Jr. and wife Edith of Pleasant Garden; daughter, Jean Johnson and husband Joe of Greensboro; sisters, Louise R. Gray and Bernice R. Kerns; grandchildren, Glenna Kidd and husband Darrell, Steven Routh, Cindy Routh, Jennifer Tyner and husband David, Paul Routh and fiancée Casey Albertson; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm Wednesday evening, October 1, 2014 at the Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 High Point Rd. in Greensboro.
