Rebecca Sharpe Strickland

Born on May 3, 1940 in Greensboro, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Hillard Sharpe and Cella Belle Martin Sharpe. In her younger years, Rebecca enjoyed fishing and camping. She also enjoyed motorcycle rides with her late husband John. She would talk to her daughters everyday and enjoyed spending time with daughter, Shirley at her residence in Thomasville. Rebecca also enjoyed the Lady’s Lunches but her most precious accomplishments was raising her daughters and spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Lloyd and Billy Sharpe.

She is survived by her two daughters, Shirley Watts and husband Dean of Thomasville and Brenda Truitt of Greensboro; four grandchildren, Crissy Bussard and husband Ryan, Billy Joe Strickland, Dean Watts, Jr., and Benjamin Watts; three great grandchildren, Shawn Wood and partner Jessica Shaw, Chandler Wood and partner Katlin Hawes, and Lyndsey Wood; and four great great grandchildren, Kamryn, Deklan “Duck”, Luke and Dakota.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 25, 2023 from 11 to 12:30 pm at Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home. A graveside service will begin at 1 pm at Lakeview Memorial Park, 3600 N O’Henry Blvd, Greensboro, NC.
