Peggy Thrower Walker

She is survived by her daughter, Pamela, son-in-law David and grandsons Sam and Noah; sisters; Lena Mae and Lillian and brother; David. She is preceded in death by her husband Gerald Walker; her mother Lillie Thrower; father Carl Thrower; brother Eugene Thrower; and sister Christine Ashworth Dean.

Peggy was a loving mother and devoted grandmother, known to those closest to her as “Granny.” She was a calming influence and guiding spirit to her daughter with the true joy of her life were her grandsons Sam and Noah. She played an active role in their lives and they all treasured their shared special relationship. Ms. Walker spent over thirty years working at GMAC. After retirement she volunteered at Colfax Elementary School where she helped the first graders in her daughter’s classroom.

The family would like to thank the staff at Whitestone Care and Wellness for providing Peggy with the best possible care in a setting that was happy and welcoming. The family is also grateful to Anne, Debbie, and Nancy from Hospice of Greensboro. The compassionate support they provided for both Peggy and her family were invaluable during time.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel conducted by Reverend Patrick Fuller. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
