Maureen was born in Elizabeth, NJ to the late Joseph William and Catherine Faser Bryan. She moved to Greensboro in 1992 to be near her family after ten years in FL. Maureen will be remembered as a fiery red head who loved to laugh and socialize and was always the last to leave the party, saying her “Irish Goodbyes”. She was a devout Catholic who cherished her Irish heritage by way of membership in the Council of Catholic Women and the Ancient Order of the Hibernians. Maureen was a protective mother always involved in her children’s activities and schooling where she served as class Mom and Boy and Girl Scout Leader. Her extended family was just as important to her as she made every effort to return to NJ for family events. She enjoyed craft making and for the last twenty years has looked forward to her once a month Pokeno card group.
Surviving Maureen are her three children, Brian Murphy of Browns Summit, Kathleen Murphy (Jan Maynard) of Harrisburg and Theresa Hancock of Greensboro; grandchildren, Tate and Luke Hancock; and her siblings, Winnie Canavan (Joe), Thomas Bryan (Geri) and Millie Ciencin (Greg) all of NJ. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Barry Murphy in 2000 and brother, Kevin Bryan in 2008.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Beacon Place, 2502 Summit Ave., Greensboro, NC 27405. On line condolences may be made to www.haneslineberryfuneralhomes.com.
