Mary Ann Gruenke Senn was born December 24, 1942, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in St. Paul Minnesota to her parents Aloys Peter and Barbara Ann Marie Hallquist Gruenke. The Gruenke family was a boyeros group where everybody had an idea about everything. She grew up with four brothers and one sister. Mary Ann was the second oldest and took responsibility periodically for mothering her younger siblings. A responsibility which they joyfully remember.
Mary Ann is survived by her husband, Patrick; her oldest son Jason (Vibeke) of Denver, CO, her daughter, Diana (Jeff) of Greensboro, NC and her youngest son, Nicholas of Greensboro, NC; her siblings, Mark (Maryknoll Brother) of Maryknoll, NY; Carol Orrell (Jack) of Williamsburg, VA; Jerry (Julie) of Kelseyville, CA and Dennis (Darlene) of Kerrick, MN.
Mary Ann worked part-time most of her career as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). After receiving her BD from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, she worked as an Event Coordinator plus LPN at an Alzheimer’s unit on Elm Street in Greensboro, NC. Other working environments were Nursing Homes in Minnesota, New Mexico, Florida and North Carolina.
Mary Ann was a positive, up lifting, out going person who could make friends fairly easily. When she was 36 years old, she invited Jesus Christ into her heart as her Lord and Savior. This was a captivating event which left her more radiant and joyful than she had ever been. She never hesitated to tell others about her loving Savior whenever the opportunity arose. Her husband credited her with leading him to Christ through the Holy Spirit.
Mary Ann was a physically and mentally active person until she was struck with a stroke at age 79. She was a beautiful person her on earth and will certainly be a great addition to Heaven! Praise be to God.
A Celebration of Life Service for Mary Ann will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 22, 2024 at Westover Church, 505 Muirs Chapel Rd, Greensboro, NC.
