Marilyn Jean Miller Bucy, 91, a resident of Sanford passed away on Sunday July 19, 2015 at Beacon Place in Greensboro. Mrs. Bucy was born March 3, 1924 in Peoria, Illinois the daughter Dr. George E. and Ella Zilm Miller.
Marilyn served during WW II as Seaman First Class and was discharged as a Wave in the U.S. Navy. Marilyn attended Illinois Wesleyan and was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority. She was a member of Highland Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville where she enjoyed many years singing in the choir. She was an avid Duke fan and spent most of her time on the golf course, bowling or leading exercise classes.
Marilyn was married to Carter Dale Bucy who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Ann Meinert, Helen Meyer and Lois Smith.
She is survived by her daughter, Patty B. Cone and husband Steve of Jamestown; her son, Tom Bucy and wife Karen of Warminster, PA; four grandchildren, Kristin Deissler, Jennifer Jenkins, Jason Cone, David Cone and four great grandchildren. Her fifth great grandchild is due in September.
A Service to Celebrate Marilyn’s Life will be held at 11:00 on Tuesday, July 28 at Highland Presbyterian Church conducted by the Reverend Dr. J. Ernest Johnson. The family will receive friends following the service. Inurnment will be in the church columbarium.
