Linda Ann Strom, 78, of Greensboro, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2024 at her home. Linda was born on December 3, 1945 to Neal and Philomena Bianco in Corona, NY. She grew up surrounded by her large extended family in Flushing, NY. Linda learned a love of cooking from her mother. And much like her mother, no one would ever leave her home hungry.
After graduating from Flushing High School, she worked as an Administrative Assistant for Rootes Motor Company. It was there that she would meet her future husband, William “Bill” Strom. Although she and her co-workers were hoping for another “cuter” hire, (her words, not ours) she and Bill began dating after Bill fell out of his chair one day because Linda looked so damn good.
Linda and Bill married on November 30, 1968. They went on to have 3 children; Jennifer-often maligned for the size of her head (kidding!), Erik-who bore the brunt of the wooden spoon (mostly kidding…), and Karen (she thought she was a duck (not kidding).
Previous to the birth of her first child, Linda left her position at Rootes in order to dedicate her life to her family and we are so ever grateful that she did. In addition to being an incredible wife, mother and grandmother, she was truly the kindest person most of us have been blessed to know.
Linda loved animals of all kinds. She loved horses and rode often as a young woman, and was particularly fond of penguins. Her chance to pet and interact with penguins on her 70th birthday was a highlight of her life. She was also very attached to her pets: Otto and Jessie, her beloved dogs, and Pumpkin, her precious cat, preceded her in death. She leaves behind her sweet cats Pipi and Minnie, who we will pamper on her behalf.
Linda was predeceased by her parents and her eldest sister, Felicia. She is survived by her husband, Bill, her sister, Carol, her children and their spouses, as well as the lights of her life, her five grandchildren. Will, Ian, Nate, Violet and Sam brought her immeasurable joy and are what she may have been the most proud of in her life. She is also survived by several beautiful nieces and nephews and their children. She loved them all so much.
Services will be held at Hanes- Lineberry Sedgefield Funeral Home, 6000 West Gate City Blvd., Greensboro, NC 27407. Visitation and reception will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at 5:00 pm, with a Memorial Service following directly after at 6:00 pm. In honor of our beautiful wife, mother, and grandmother, please have a cold martini with extra olives. Salut.
Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel is honored to serve the Strom Family.
