Lena Maie Smith

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at Alamance Presbyterian Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 prior to the service.

Lena Maie was born July 16, 1917 in Greensboro, daughter of the late Arthur Edward and Ethel Dorsett Sharpe. She graduated in 1934 from Greensboro Senior High School. Lena Maie started work at Meyers Department Store and then was a secretary at Jefferson Pilot Life Insurance Co. before becoming a fulltime homemaker. She enjoyed gardening and was known for her beautiful yard full of flowers and azaleas.

Lena Maie was a lifetime member of Alamance Presbyterian Church and Forest Oaks Country Club.

Lena Maie was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Hase H. Smith and her sister, Rebecca Black. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Brown of Atlanta and her nephew and niece, Tom Black and Janice Euell.
