The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday August 3 at Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 West Gate City Boulevard. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, August 4th in Greensboro at Glenwood United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jean Nall officiating. Burial will take place in Guilford Memorial Park followed by a reception at the Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel.
Kenneth was born April 6, 1938 in Kannapolis, and was the son of the late Matthew E. and Lula Mae Patterson Marlow. He was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Ruth Dayvault (Harold) and a brother, Cecil M. Marlow (Flossie).
He graduated from A.L. Brown High School in Kannapolis and Pfeiffer University in Misenheimer, NC. He was employed as an Agent in 1960 by the Internal Revenue Service in Greensboro where he remained until retirement in July, 1993. He was employed as an Appeals Officer for the last twenty years of his employment. Upon retirement Kenneth practiced as a Certified Public Accountant for five years doing representation work before the Internal Revenue Service and North Carolina Department of Revenue. Also, he was employed by several local churches as their accountant.
Kenneth was a member of Glenwood United Methodist Church for over 50 years. He served in various leadership capacities including chairman of the administrative council, lay leader, teacher and treasurer of the church.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nancy Ramseur Marlow of the home; daughter Lisa Bates (Robert) of Welcome; son Kenneth Jr. (Leigh) of Greensboro; son Philip (Nikki) of Winston-Salem; five granddaughters, Catherine, Caroline, Camille Bates, Grace Marlow and Gigi Marlow; one grandson, Bennett Marlow.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions in Kenneth’s name be directed to Glenwood United Methodist Church, 1417 Glenwood Ave., Greensboro, NC 27403 and the Gideons International, P.O. Box 77245, Greensboro, NC 27417.
