Kelly Barts Starkey

Kelly Barts Starkey, 64, of Greensboro, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Christmas Day as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Kelly was born on October 17, 1958 and grew up in Yanceyville, NC. Kelly graduated high school Valedictorian and attended college at Duke University and Appalachian State University. After school, Kelly was very successful in her career as a mortgage banker.

She was a very active member of her church and in the community. Kelly has given of herself to support the community through the Greensboro Sports Council, Children’s Home Society of NC, Urban Ministry and NC SPCA.

Kelly was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, community volunteer and loved to entertain. She adored being called Mimi.

She is preceded in death by her mother Ruth Bradsher Barts and A. Hill Barts. She is survived by the love of her life, John Carroll Starkey; her daughter Crystal Dawn Lewis (Chris); and granddaughters Kaitlyn and Emily.

A celebration of life will be held at Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church, Fellowship Hall at 3:00pm, Thursday, January 5, 2023, followed by a reception in the church’s Welcome Center.
