Joseph Edward "Eddie" Gallant

Eddie for many years was an owner/operator of several service stations in Greensboro including the Mobile Station on High Point Road and Groometown Road, the Texaco Station on High Point Road and Merritt Drive, the Texaco Station on Market Street near Guilford College, and the Servco Station on High Point Road and Mackay Road. Most recently he worked at the Green Ford Auto Auction. He was a long-time member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Eddie was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp where he served our country in Korea.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, David Gallant and wife Tina and Danny Gallant; his sister, Dora G. Vigue and his brother, Ernie Gallant.

Eddie is survived by his wife of 69 years, Susan Buckner Gallant of the home; two daughters, Heidi G. Pegram and her husband Ronnie of Greensboro, Amy G. Swanson and her husband Carlis (deceased) of High Point; sons, Michael “Mick” Gallant and his wife Anne of Greensboro, and James Messmer of Florida; 9 grandchildren, Christy Parker, Elizabeth Gallant, Brooke Capano, Luke Pegram, Sarah Solomon, Zackary Swanson, Mattie Neese, Lindsay Cox, and Katie Dunkelberger; 15 great grandchildren, Hailey Perkins, Ava Gallant, McKensly Parker, Davian Parker, Kase Capano, Eliza Solomon, Charlotte Solomon, Ainsley Swanson, Ella Neese, Brynn Neese, James Cox, Josiah Cox, Sam Cox, Caroline Dunkelberger, and Everett Dunkelberger. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday July 9, 2022 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.

Eddie’s unconditional love, support and devotion to his wife and each member of his family continues to be felt today. His influence on our lives will be passed on to future generations.
