John Hoyt McAuley

A funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm Monday, March 12, 2012 at Hanes Lineberry North Elm Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service. Interment will be at 2:00 pm Wednesday in Elmwood Cemetery, Charlotte, NC.

Hoyt was born in Hopewell, VA, son of the late John Orr McAuley and Frances Marion Dickey McAuley. He was a radar operator in the Army Air Corps during WWII. Hoyt lived in Washington DC for over 30 years where he was a research chemist for the National Bureau of Standards.

Hoyt was preceded in death by his sisters, Laura Glyn McAuley and Lena McAuley Dunaway; and brother, David Travis McAuley.

He is survived by his brother, William Dickey McAuley and wife Ruth Ann McAuley; niece, Tracy McAuley Kinney and husband Kevin Bret Kinney and their daughters Lilly and Grace Kinney; nephew, Todd Lee McAuley and wife Rita and their son John Lee McAuley. He was also preceded in death by Tracy and Bret’s son MacAuley Evans Kinney.
