John Curtis Fletcher passed peacefully after battling chronic lymphocytic leukemia on December 22, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and love. John was born on February 19, 1948, in Binghamton, New York, son of the late John W. Fletcher and Dorothy M. George Fletcher. He was a devoted father to his daughters, Maureen Fletcher and Julie Fletcher, who will forever cherish his memory and the life lessons he imparted. John was also a proud grandfather to Anastasia Schmidt, and his heart grew even fuller with the arrival of his three great grandchildren—Scarlett, Thomas, and Noah Schmidt. His family was the center of his world, and he treasured every moment spent with them.
For over two decades, John shared his life with his beloved partner, Thu Bray. Together, they created countless memories, exploring the world and traveling throughout Europe to spend time with family and loved ones. Their adventures were filled with laughter, love, and a shared sense of wonder for the world around them.
John spent over 40 years as a hospital pharmacist, a career he embraced with passion and pride. His work extended beyond filling prescriptions—he found deep fulfillment in helping patients directly, particularly during his time in clinical pharmacy. His compassion and dedication left a lasting impact on countless lives, and he was known for his unwavering commitment to the well-being of those he served.
John was a man of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and enjoyed all of God's creations. John’s love for animals was one of his most endearing qualities. Whether it was the family dogs and cats or his frequent visits to the zoo, he found joy and comfort in the presence of animals. He had a soft spot for rescue animals, always ready to provide a loving home to those in need. His gentle and nurturing spirit made him a friend not only to people but to every creature that crossed his path.
He was predeceased by his father, John W. Fletcher, his mother, Dorothy Mae George Fletcher, and sister, Karen Fletcher. John is survived by daughters Maureen Fletcher Williams and husband Charles Williams and daughter Julie Fletcher as well as many close loving cousins who held a special place in his heart.
He will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and the way he made those around him feel cared for. His daughters, grandchildren, and Thu will forever hold dear his patient guidance, steadfast support, and the many quiet moments filled with love and laughter.
John Curtis Fletcher’s memory lives on in the hearts of his family, friends, and the many people—and animals—whose lives he touched. His legacy is one of kindness, compassion, and unwavering love—values that will continue to inspire those who knew him.
