Jewell Thomas “J.T.” Andrews, 86, was called to Heaven by his Lord, where he now is with his loving grandsons, Rudy and Zack, on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC. Funeral services will be held on Friday, 11:00 am at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel with Dr. Jeffrey L. Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park.
J.T. was born on Dec. 21, 1924, the son of Charlie D. and Mary Frances East Andrews in Halifax County, VA. He served his country during WW II in the US Army. He worked at a job he loved with Branch Motor Express and retired after 28 years of service. He was a member of Hunter Hills Church for over 48 years and now a member of Cross Point Church of Greensboro. J.T. was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and great grandfather. His family was always the greatest joy of his life.
J. T. is survived by his loving and devoted wife 63 years, Margaret Marie Andrews; children, Margaret Andrews of Greensboro, NC, Larry T. Andrews and wife Judy of Randolph County, NC, and Michael W. Andrews and wife Desiree, of Greensboro, NC; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren; siblings, Wayne Andrews and Joan Crowder and husband Charles of Halifax County, VA and Peggy Walker and husband Cecil of South Boston, VA.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Western Carolina Chapter, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215-3220.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel.
