Jeanette was born on August 23rd, 1928, in Danville, VA to Charlie Powhatan Jeffries and Nellie Holland Lowe. She attended Axton High School and graduated from Draper High School. She later attended Perry Business College in Martinsville. She worked many years at Corning Glass Works of Danville, VA and retired from The Eden News as a layout editor. She was married to the late Clarence Vest Bowling Sr. in 1946. They were married for 71 years. She loved her family and church very much. Jeanette painted and loved to write. She had several articles published in local papers. She loved family history and knew a lot of Draper history. One of her joys in life was reading the Greensboro News and Record daily and completing their crossword puzzles and Sudoku. She sponsored many annual family functions. She was an awesome cook and could put on a spread to feed many people even into her nineties. Her deviled eggs were legendary.
Jeanette is survived by her sons, C.V. Bowling Jr. (Seadonia) of Burlington, NC, Danny Bowling (Judy) of Columbus, GA and Chuck Bowling of Eden; daughter, Anita Sumner (Eric) of Archdale, NC; daughter-in-law, Julia Bowling of Pelham, NC; 8 grandchildren and 14 great and 5 great-great grandchildren, also several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband she is preceded in death by her son Sammy; brother, Lewis; two daughters-in-law, Yang Bowling, Mary Bowling and a great grandson, Wade.
Pallbearers will be Gregory Moore, Taylor Trantham, Tanner Trantham, Beau Bowling, Josh Bowling and Walker Bowling.
Services will be conducted at the First Baptist Church of Draper at 11 am on November 16, 2024 under the direction of Pastor Tony Helms. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
