James Edward Harvell, 68, a resident of Reidsville died Sunday at the Hospice Home of Burlington. Mr. Harvell was born September 21, 1945 in Greensboro, the son of Perry Andrew and Mary Louise Pugh Harvell. He retired from Ryder Truck Rental and had worked previously with Cheerwine and Boren Brick. He served in the U.S. Army and upon his discharge he then served in the North Carolina National Guard. He was of the Baptist faith. James was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Grady Harvell.
He was married on December 19, 1965 to Charlene G. Clark who survives of the home. Surviving in addition to his wife Charlene C. Harvell is one daughter, Karen H. Coe and husband Mark of Browns Summit; one son, James A. Harvell and wife Nicole of Gibsonville; one sister, Shirley Woodard and husband John of Climax; three brothers, Paisley Harvell and wife Vernell of Reidsville, Junior Harvell and wife Frances of Greensboro, Earl Harvell and wife Linda of Reidsville and four grandchildren, Joshua “Josh” Knight, Lauren Coe, Kaytee Harvell, Nickolas “Nick” Harvell and Emily Harvell.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel conducted by Reverend Ralph Clayton and Reverend Larry Pope. Interment with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
