Funeral service will be held Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Calvary Baptist Church with Dr. J. Rodney Bolejack officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park. Family visitation will be held on Friday, December 2, 2016 at Hanes Lineberry North Elm Chapel from 5:00-7:00 pm
James was born in Guilford County to the late James William and Rae Inez Hockaday
Bolejack, Sr. He graduated from Greensboro Senior High School (Grimsley) in 1950; and later from Guilford College with a degree in Chemistry and minor in Math. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War on the USS Boxer and USS Wasp aircraft carriers.
He was employed by Hercules Corporation as a Chemical Engineer. He received many awards including the Highest Civilian Award.
He received his Masters of Divinity from Southwestern Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX. He served as pastor to numerous churches including Lane Prairie Baptist Church in Cleburne, TX; Parkway Baptist Church in Tallahassee, FL and Kingsland Baptist Church in Richmond, VA. James helped to purchase land and build churches in Richmond, VA and in McLeansville, NC; he also served as interim pastor at other churches. He traveled to Israel twenty-four times, and walked where Jesus walked. He loved to tell others about Jesus.
James served on the Town Council in Blacksburg, VA, and helped start a City park. He was a lifelong member of the Virginia Jaycees.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Norma Stewart Bolejack; daughter, Rhonda B. Wells (Edward Panatex) of McLeansville, NC; Dr. J. Rodney Bolejack (Tina) of Corinth, TX, and David Bolejack (Donna) of McLeansville, NC; grandchildren, Tristan, Savannah, Haylee, Jason, Christina, Daniel and Nicole; and five great grandchildren. Also, thanks to Alyne Merchant, beloved caregiver.
