Irene “Granny” Willard Baker, 95, a resident of Greensboro passed away Thursday morning October 8, 2015 at the Adams Farm Health and Rehab Center. Irene was born July 28, 1920 in Stokes County the daughter of Ernest Eugene and Ohie Nance Willard.
Irene retired from Vick Chemical Corp. in Greensboro with almost 26 years of service. She attended Christ Wesleyan Church until her health began to fail. She was a member of the Wesley Long Auxiliary for 10 years
Irene was married in 1939 to Clinton Baker who preceded her in death in May of 1976. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Odene and Josephine Willard; her brothers, Ernest, Aubrey, Fount and James Willard and her son-in-law Dave Coggins.
She is survived by her daughter, Betty Baker Coggins of Greensboro; granddaughter, Melody Parrish and husband Jay of Reidsville; grandson, Todd Coggins of Greensboro and her great grandchildren, Sydney and Ally Coggins and her nieces and nephews too many to name. She was blessed by a loving family and we were blessed to have her guidance, wisdom and love.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel conducted by Rev. Bill Foust. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel on Sunday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
