William Augustus Weithaas and Frances nee Sergott Weithaas died peacefully at Moses Cone
Hospital in Greensboro, North Carolina on December 15, 2024 of natural causes.
Duff was predeceased by her husband of 63 years Pasquale (Pat) Raphael Giuliano. Known as
the “lovebirds”, they were neighborhood sweethearts.They married on April 18, 1953 and settled
in Queens, New York.
Duff is survived by her children Kathy-Ann and Matthew; grandchildren Tessa Royer and
Christopher, William and Richard Giuliano; great grandchildren Rowan and Anna Eslin and
Finley, Piper, Henry, Louis and Jack; brother William Weithaas and sister Priscilla Traxler.
Duff was a graduate of P.S.124 and John Adams High School in Richmond Hill, Queens, New
York. She began working at the New York Telephone Company, married and started their
family. She returned to work as a fifth grade teacher at St. Teresa of Avila R.C. Elementary in
South Ozone Park,Queens, NY and was beloved by an entire generation of children. She
continued her working life in Manhattan as an assistant merchandiser for Pierre Cardin men’s
fashion house.
Upon retirement, Duff and Pat relocated to Greensboro, North Carolina where they enjoyed 29
years of togetherness with new friends, travelling to Europe, attending the theatre and opera and
supporting the arts.
A celebration of the life of this iconic, one of a kind woman is in planning and will take place at a
future date in early 2025.
