Emily Ruth Wrenn, 91, of Asheboro and formerly of Greensboro passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at Cross Roads Retirement Community. She was the loving wife of the late Clarence Eugene “Gene” Wrenn.
Born on September 7, 1932 in Guilford County, she was the daughter of the late W.H. Stevenson and Serella Barber Stevenson. Ruth married the love of her life, Gene, in 1949 and had a beautiful marriage. Ruth and Gene had an ESSO station in Greensboro for many years. She enjoyed the beach and social life, where she was active in the Rushetts Bridge Club and the Greensboro Garden Club. Ruth attended and raised her family in Forest Avenue Tabernacle.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by a grandson, Chad Walters and brother, Donald Smith.
She is survived by her three daugthers, Cynthia Edwards and husband Barry, Pamela “Pam” Wrenn and Susan “Susie” Wrenn; grandchildren, Barry Edwards, Jr. (Julia) and Brittney Peterson (Dustin Teal); great grandchildren, Brooke Edwards, Max Edwards, Christopher “CJ” Powell, Jr., Chad Peterson and Zayne Teal.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Cross Roads Retirement Center in Asheboro and Hospice of Randolph County for their wonderful and compassionate care of Ruth.
A private graveside service will be held Westminster Gardens Mausoleum.
