Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 W. Gate City Blvd., in Greensboro. Burial will follow in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at the funeral home.
Born in Stokes County to the late William and Pearl Coleman, Elizabeth was of the Baptist faith. She was a Jeweler by trade and was owner and operator of Thorburn Jewelers for a number of years. Elizabeth enjoyed traveling, playing cards, gardening, cooking for family and friends and meeting new faces. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend who was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Edward Thorburn; second husband Dale Kluska; son, Randy Thorburn; and several of her siblings, Robert Leonard Coleman, Charlie Lincoln Coleman, John Hardy Coleman, Mini Pearl “Virginia” Hicks, Doris Loraine Duffy, Lewis Merrell Coleman, George Washington Coleman, William Lawrence Coleman, Ronnie Coleman, and Connie Coleman.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Ashley Thorburn Alverson (Larry); brothers, Kenneth J. Coleman and Thomas Ray Coleman; sisters, Charlotte Hester Lightsey and Margaret Buckner; grandchildren, Cameron Alverson (Lynsey) and Kayla Alverson (Ryan); great-grandchild, Charley Grace Alverson; and numerous extended family and friends.
