Edgar “Ed” Raymond Magnuson, 94, a former resident of Greensboro died Monday September 8, 2014 at the North Carolina State Veterans Home in Black Mountain. Ed was born February 5, 1920 in Lake Bronson, MN, the son of Edgar Olaf and Carrie Jorgensen Magnuson. He was a graduate of the University of Minnesota and was an engineer with the IBM Corp. He had owned Magnuson and Associates in Rochester, MN and worked in Real Estate Sales in Sun City, AZ and also at Hilton Head, SC. He was of the Presbyterian faith. Ed served his country during WW II in the U.S. Navy, retiring as a Lieutenant.
On May 2, 1943 he was married to Alice June Mickelson who preceded him in death on February 22, 1996. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Roy Magnuson.
He is survived by his two daughters, Kristine Magnuson of Fort Mill, SC, Karen M. Wilson and husband Christopher of Charlotte; one granddaughter, Andrea Wilson Short and husband Richard of Charlotte and two great grandchildren, Pax and Reagan Short.
Services to Celebrate Ed’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 13, 2014 at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel in Greensboro conducted by Gary Smith, Layman. Private family interment with Military Honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard will take place at Westminster Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until service time.
