A funeral service will be held Saturday, 2:00 p.m., at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park.
Don was born July 30, 1941 in Greensboro, the son of John Sinclair Winchester and Ethel Stout Winchester.
Don was a supportive person who enjoyed volunteering with the Moses Cone Cancer Center and attending his monthly lunches with his support group, The Butterflys. This was a good fit for Don as he was a friendly, outgoing person who never met a stranger. Don enjoyed golfing, bowling, camping, traveling, watching football and Nascar events, but most of all spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Dorothy Ann Winchester and his great grandson, Lathyn Guijoza.
Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Donna Windham; his grandchildren, Chris Smith, Brittany and Javier Guijoza, and Cody and Chance Windham. Also surviving are the lights of his life, Gabrielle and Izabelle Guijoza, his great granddaughters.
Family and friends will be received Saturday, 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the Moses Cone 3M ICU for the excellent care given to Don.
