David Howard Sullivan

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 West Gate City Blvd., Greensboro, NC 27407. The family will receive friends and loved ones prior to the funeral service from 12:00 until 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Howard will be laid to rest in Guilford Memorial Park at a later date during a private family committal service.

Howard was born in Guilford County on September 5, 1938. He was one of six children and attended Sumner High School. He worked in machine tool and die for many years and went on to work part-time in sales.

He met the love of his life, Jackie Chestnut, at the age of 14. They were high school sweethearts and went on to marry in 1957. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Michelle Sullivan Martin (Ed); two grandchildren, William Howard Martin (Elizabeth) and Megan Martin Protzek (Josh); four great-grandchildren, Jacqueline Martin, Stacey Martin, Davis Protzek and Allie Grace Protzek, who loved him deeply.

Howard will always be remembered as a loving, kind, and gentle man. He led by example and helped many on their journey to live life of life’s terms.

Memorial contributions in Howard’s memory may be made to Moses Cone Cancer Center or to Hospice of the Piedmont.
