Charles William "Willie" Stone

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, 11:00 am at Hanes Lineberry Vanstory Chapel with burial to follow at Guilford Memorial Park. Officiating will be Rev. Darrell Ost. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am till service time at the funeral home.

Willie was born in Rockingham County, NC, to the late William Riley and TInnie Bell Hayden Stone. He retired at 73, from Hechts, formerly Thalimers/Ellis Stone store after 43 years of service. He was a member of the First Evangelical Methodist Church of Greensboro. He was very active and loved his church from the construction of the building to serving as Sunday school treasurer and member of the Men for Missions. He was a man that lived to please God. Gardening was his talent which he loved and shared with all. He was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, W. Riley and TInne Bell Hayden Stone, he was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Ruby Madison Stone; a brother, Paul Stone; sisters, Ollie Draper, Myrtle Likens, Mattie Hall and a granddaughter, Teresa Wood.

Those left to cherish precious memories include his daughters; Patricia Neerman (Sam) of NC, Jerita Chastain of Georgia; grandchildren, Frank Eric Wood (Michelle), Jayne’ Reed (Kit), Layne Chastain (Sandy). Melanie Nobles (Ned), 12 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He is survived by a brother, Earl Stone (Katie) of Greensboro; sisters, Opal Dye of Madison, Ann May of Greensboro and Ida Smith (Jack) of Jamestown.

The family would like to express our most heartfelt gratitude to the family members who lovingly attended to his over the past six years. The family would also, like to thank the staff of Heartland Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility and to Hospice of Greensboro.
