She was born in Newport News, Virginia, the daughter of the late Karl Lewis Ponzer, Jr. and Mabel Overby Ponzer.
She was a graduate of the University of North Carolina-Greensboro with an undergraduate degree in Biology and a Masters degree in Counseling. In her Professional Career Development, she received a certificate as a Medical Technologist from the Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital School of Medical Technology as well as a Specialty in Blood Banking from the American Association of Clinical Pathology. Later in her career, she became Allied Health Coordinator at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center and lived most of her adult life in Greensboro.
She is survived by her husband, Dewey W. Taylor, sister-in-law, Jean Collins Taylor, and nieces Tracey Tidwell and husband Michael of Greensboro, Tammy Fleming and husband Keith of Auburn, Georgia, and Tara Taylor of Asheboro, NC.
A celebration of Carolyn's life will be held at a later date.
