Brian Earl Whitley, 48, of Brown Summit, NC, and a former resident of Whitsett, NC passed away on January 17, 2024. His loss was completely unexpected, and his family is profoundly saddened. He was born on January 17, 1976, the son of Bruce Gordon Whitley, Jr., and Bonnie Cluff Whitley.
Brian was preceded in death by his father and both maternal and paternal grandparents. He is survived by his wife Christina of 25 years and their three children: Brittany of Southern Pines, NC, Austin (Desirea) of Grand Rapids, MI, and Brandon (Cassie) of Whitsett, NC. He is also survived by his mother Bonnie Cluff Whitley of Dothan, AL, and sister Barbara Whitley Helms (Wade) of Dothan, AL, and survived by grandchildren Greyson and Scarlett Whitley, Olivia Hoke, Lydia Dare and Elaina Whitley.
If you knew Brian, you loved him. He will be remembered as a beloved son, husband, brother, father, grandfather, and friend. He gave with a big heart and a generous nature. One example is the years he spent volunteering with the Mt. Hope Fire Department. Brian loved the outdoors while spending time in the mountains and just catching fish. You always had to be ready for a big laugh around him. He was quick witted, larger-than-life and ready to crack a good joke. We miss Brian. He’s gone too soon, but we know he’s completely healed now and reunited with his best friend - his daddy.
Visitation with the family will be on Saturday, February 3, 2024, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. with the Funeral services being held at 11:00 a.m. at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel. Private burial will follow in Guilford Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Brian’s memory to Mt. Hope Fire Department 6651 Holts Store Road Julian, NC 27283.
