Bobby Mike Reed, Sr. 79, of Greensboro, NC, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday January 23, 2024. He is survived by his best friend and the love of his life, Edith Reed, to whom he was married for 44 1/2 years.
He was born in Abington, VA on December 3, 1944, and was preceded in death by his parents Charlie Lee and Jeanette Louise Jones Reed. In addition to his father and mother, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Dewey Gene Reed and Raymond Lee Reed, son Thomas E Hodgin IV.
Bobby’s best times in life were enjoying their mountain home and spending time with family. He was a truck driver for over 40 years, driving for Epes Trucking and retired from Saia Motor Freight. After retirement, and being awarded for driving over 1 million miles he loved to get together with trucker friends and talk about old times. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church and an avid follower of Christ. He loved NASCAR, Drag Racing, the Carolina Panthers and riding his trike.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Bobby Mike Reed Jr. (Tina) of Stanleytown, VA; daughter, Cindy Welborn (Billy) of Greensboro, NC; son, Scott Hodgin (Faye) of Cedarville, OH; one sister, Ruth Reed Kennedy of Abingdon, VA; two brothers, Charles R. Reed (Jill) of Axton, VA, Clarence A. Reed (Carol) of Goshen, IN; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Edith extends her heartfelt gratitude to the Staff, Nurses, and CNA’s of Hospice at High Point. Also, giving a special thanks to granddaughter Jude Willets (Chris) of Liberty, NC and great grandson Kayden “Cowboy”.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday January 29, 2024 at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until service time.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1803 Westchester Dr. High Point, NC 27262.
