Billie Whitt Brown of Greensboro and Seven Lakes, NC passed away at the home of her daughter and son-in-law on October 26, 2019. A graveside service with be held at 11 AM, Friday, November 1, at Lakeview Memorial Park Cemetery in Greensboro. There will be no formal visitation.
Billie was born on January 3, 1930 in Wake County, NC to Willie Basil Whitt and Lena Essie Arnold Whitt. Her twin sister died at birth. She was of the Baptist faith and was a faithful member of Rankin Baptist Church. Billie and her best friend Gloria were teachers of the preschool class at Rankin. She was also a member of the church’s Happy Hearts Club. She worked at Teague Auto Supply in Greensboro as a book keeper. Billie was a storyteller, a poet and had a flair for documenting lifetime events in scrapbooks which her family cherish and are now preserving for generations to come.
Mrs. Brown was a 25-year volunteer at Wesley Long Hospital. She and her husband, Vestal were members of the General Greene Chapter of the Antique Automobile Club. Their kitty Gigi was named for the Club.
Billie was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend who was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years Vestal J. Brown, her parents, twin sister, and great-granddaughter, Bella Grace Brown. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter Lynn Ballenger and husband Michael of Seven Lakes, NC, her son Steve Brown and wife Patricia of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren Johnny Brown (Stephanie Battaille), Brandy Hasty (Nic), Elizabeth Morgan (Daniel), Katie Ballenger (Chad Shannon) and Jules Langaman (Dylan); great-grandchildren Wyatt Brown, Ava Langaman and Greyson Hasty; her brother Sammy Whitt (Deborah); and her sisters Cathy Bennett (Gary), Janet Jackson and Ann Jones; and many nieces and nephews and their families.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Magnolia Gardens Assisted Living in Southern Pines, Pinehurst Healthcare and Rehabilitation, FirstHealth Memorial Hospital and FirstHealth Hospice of Pinehurst that all showed true compassion during this journey.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Hospice of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
