Anthony Wayne Davis

Anthony “Andy” Wayne Davis, 84, of Danville, VA passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at Sovah Health- Danville. Andy was born on February 29, 1940, in Dry Fork, VA and was the son of the late William Edmund and Virginia Willis Davis.

Andy was a graduate of Whitmell Farm Life School and Danville Community College with an associate’s degree in administration of justice. In June of 1965, Andy married his beloved bride, Charlotte Scearce. He was a long-time employee of Lorillard Tobacco company with 35 years of service. Following retirement, he worked at American National Bank as a courier. Andy loved his morning meeting with friends at Ruben’s Restaurant on Riverside Drive. He was a member of Faith Memorial Baptist Church where he served in several capacities when he was able.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, James W. Davis and wife Demetrice Cochram Davis. Andy is survived by his wife of 59 years, Charlotte Scearce Davis; son, Mark Anthony Davis and wife Gina Michelle of Danville; grandson, Matthew Jacob Davis of Fredericksburg, VA; two granddaughters, Sarah Elizabeth Davis and Grace Ann Davis of Fredericksburg, VA; brother, Joel “Nelson” Davis and wife Effie Brumfield Davis of Dry Fork, VA; and three nieces, Virginia Gail Davis Harding (Danny), Judith Ann “Judy” Davis Powers (Greg) and Cynthia “Cindy” Faye Davis Slayton.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Sovah Health Danville on the 3rd floor ICU for their wonderful and compassionate care of Andy during his illness.

A funeral service will be held at 1pm on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at Faith Memorial Baptist Church, 7450 Martinsville Hwy, Danville, VA 24541 with Pastor Daniel Lackey officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service starting at 12 pm. Interment will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens, 510 Church Avenue, Danville VA, 24541.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Faith Memorial Baptist Church, Building Fund, 7450 Martinsville Hwy, Danville, VA 24541.
