Annie "Ann" Mae Pulliam Whitley

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, May 24, 2015 at Providence Friends Meeting, 2054 Providence Church Rd., Pleasant Garden, NC 27313. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service in the Meeting House, from 1:00 until 2:00 pm and then again after the committal service in the Fellowship Hall.

Ann was first and foremost a child of God, a wife, mother, and grandmother. She excelled at all those things. For several years she worked at Guilford Galleries in Greensboro before starting her own home business. In her early Christian life she was a member of Providence Friends Meeting in Pleasant Garden and later, after moving, she became a member of White Rock Nazarene Church in Greensboro. For the past six years she was a resident of Covenant Homes of Rocky Mount, NC. What she wanted everyone to remember most about her was that she loved Jesus.

Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Oliver Vance Whitley; her son, Vance Clayborne Whitley; her parents, Vertlee Roy Pulliam and Brooksie Mary Watkins Pulliam; and two brothers, Drewey and Johnny Pulliam.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Charlotte Whitley Saunders, (Ken) and Janet Whitley Connolly, (Matt); her sister-in-law and best friend, Laverne Whitley; her grandson, Clayton Whitley Connolly, who was the light of her life; brothers, Tom, Donald, and Billy Pulliam; and sisters, Gaynell Land, Ellene Manuel, and Shirley Boles.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Ida Small for her loving care of their mother, and to the residents and staff at Covenant Homes, for their care, concern, and prayers. Ann could not have been at a better place.
