Annette Drozdak Roland, age 63, of Jamestown, NC beloved wife of Robert Roland, Jr., passed away peacefully on Sunday December 20, 2015 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital. Born June 27, 1952 in Bridgeport, CT, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Mary Mellon Drozdak of Spartanburg, SC. Annette’s mother passed away on December 25, 2015, five days after Annette’s passing.
Annette was an RN, BSN, CCM and was last employed with Cone Health as a Nurse Case Manager. She began her career path in Nursing as a Junior Nurse Aide/Nurse Aide at Bridgeport Hospital in CT while attending Andrew Warde High School in Fairfield until her graduation from Western Connecticut State College in Danbury on May 26, 1974. She was married to Bob Roland on June 8, 1974. They had met at Bridgeport Hospital where he worked in the Transportation Department.
Annette loved each day of her life, all her family and her many friends. She was loved and admired for her thoughtfulness, strength and independence. Her life’s path had those bumps that could trip you, but she used them to step on and move past. She strived to inspire others and make those who knew her feel special. Annette enjoyed doing handwork crafts and any home, garden or yard project that would add joy to her life. She was a devoted Presbyterian.
Annette is deeply missed by her family. She is survived by her brother, Dennis Drozdak and wife Jean of Spartanburg, SC; brothers-in-law, David Roland and wife Jeannette of Milford, CT, Michael Roland of Bridgeport, CT, William Roland of Santa Monica, CA; a cherished niece and five nephews.
A gathering of friends with a reception to celebrate Annette’s life was held on Saturday, March 12, 2016, from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 West Gate City Blvd. in Greensboro, NC. A gathering of friends and family with a reception to celebrate Annette's life will be held on Sunday, June 12, 2016 from noon to 3:00 p.m. at the Gaelic-American Club, 74 Beach Rd. in Fairfield. Casual attire is welcome.
