He retired from Greeneville Parks and Rec and was owner/operator of a lawn care business.
He loved to play sports: golf, softball, fishing and playing ROOK. He won many trophies for his efforts.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years: Doris Davis; five daughters and sons-in-law: Debbie and Terry Hurst, Brenda and Bob Laney, Tammy and Bill Musick, Cindy Davis Trantham, Sheerie and Randy Cheek; grandchildren: Daniel Laney, Courtney Laney, Ashley Hall, B. J. Musick, Jon David Musick, Nathan Musick, Kelli Musick, Hannah Trantham, Dylan Trantham, Emily Cheek and Jordan Cheek; great grandchildren: Sierra Hall, Logan Hall and Karleigh Croft; two brothers and sisters-in-law: James and Patricia Davis, Doyle Davis and Jane Gosnell; sister: Wanda Wills; brother-in-law: Jerry Grooms; aunt: Hazel Lyons; several nieces and nephews; and his special friends: Eric Whitson, Bill Johnson, Mark Rice, and his “buddies” at Kinser Park Golf Course.
He was the son of the late Hilierd and Louise Davis and was preceded in death by two children: Angie Davis and Allen Davis; and siblings: Minnis Davis, Judy Davis Grooms, Sonny Davis, and Rance Davis.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 pm Saturday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
Following visitation, the funeral service will be conducted at 8 pm Saturday, September 21, 2013, in Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel with Rev. Danny Ricker officiating.
Interment will follow at 3 pm Sunday in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens. Family and friends are asked to meet at 2 pm Sunday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Laney, Jordan Cheek, Dylan Trantham, B.J. Musick, Eric Whitson, Chris Wills, and Phil Hensley.
