He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Cedar Creek Presbyterian Church, where in past years he served al elder. He, along with other church member always enjoyed work day at the church grounds. He retired from Kaydon Corp and later worked for Greene Co Express that he truly enjoyed.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Vivian Collins Humphreys; his grandson and love of his life, Peyton Humphreys, whom he enjoyed going to his golf matches through high school and college making special memories; Peyton’s special mother, Christy Humphreys; a special sister-in-law, Clara Humphreys and friend, Linda Humphreys; very special nieces and nephews, including Lisa Vines and Robbie Collins.
He was preceded in death by his son, Brock Humphreys; his parents, Ray and Hazel Humphreys; his special mother and father-in-law, Mayburn and Bernice Collins; five sisters, four brothers-in-law, and two brothers: Mary Katherine Collins, Cleo and Bill Buttram, Hassell and Bea Yates, Tom and Virginia Anderson, Bob and Betty Skinner, Rex Humphreys and R.B. Humphreys; and special nieces and nephews: Angela Crum, Teresa Yates, Debbie Yates, Tony Broyles, Dwayne Collins, Gene Collins, and Brian Yates.
The family will receive friends 1:00-3:00 pm and 5:00-7:00 pm Sunday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 7:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Pastors Harrel and Marci Cobb will officiate.
Interment will be conducted on Monday at 10:00 am at GreeneLawn Memory Gardens. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9:30 am to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Chuck Humphreys, Robbie Collins, Brad Humphreys, Danny Humphreys, Gary Vines, and Gregg Yates.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cedar Creek Presbyterian Church or Victory Church of God.
