Sara was born in Decator, Tennessee on October 16, 1930. She became a resident at Holston Methodist Home at an early age. She later went to live with foster parents in Sugar Grove, Virginia. After graduating from Sugar Grove High School, she returned to Greeneville and attended Greeneville Business College.
She was employed at Holston Home as a bookkeeper and later worked at Greene County Bank as a secretary until her retirement in 1995.
Sara was a member of Mtn. View Missionary Baptist Church and also attended Red Hill Church as long as her health permitted.
She was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years: Jack Bowman; sister: Dawn of North Carolina; brother-in-law: Willis Bowman and wife, Barbara; several nieces and nephews; many friends; and a special niece and caregiver: Vicki Jones.
A special thank you is extended to Doctors Dharman Patel, Anil Tumkur, and Michael Hartsell, and the nurses and staff at Laughlin Health Care Center.
The family will receive friends from 4pm-8pm Thursday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 8:00 pm Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Dr. David Jicka and Rev. George Kirkland officiating.
Interment will be at 10:00 am Friday in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Don Chandler, Bart Wallace, David Crum, Randy Cutshaw, Richard Bettis, Jeff Anderson, Bryan Jones, and Tracy Conatser.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Sara’s memory to the charity of your choice.
