He was born in Greeneville, August 27, 1945.
Gene was a loving brother, uncle, and friend.
He was a faithful member of Carter’s Chapel UM Church. He loved, and had strong faith in Jesus Christ that he sustained to the very end and brought him much comfort and joy. He exuberated his love of faith to every one of his family members, friends, and anyone he crossed paths with.
Gene was a light of constant joy to all who met him. His happiness and friendly nature could lighten up anyone’s day. Anyone who knew Gene would smile and stop to talk to him to remember good times.
He worked for several years at both Rhea Food Market and Vogue Cleaners, which brought him much enjoyment. He took great pleasure in performing his work, and in interacting with his coworkers and the customers he served.
Survivors include two brothers: Hovie (Deborah) Gregg and Lowell (Shirley) Gregg of Greeneville; one sister: Heidi (Phillip) McCurry of Greeneville with whom he made his home; many special, loving and caring nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and great-great nieces and great-great nephews who made him feel so loved and adored; one aunt, Glenna Cutshall and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, John Elmer and Lucille (Keller) Gregg; two brothers: James Wesley Gregg, and Donnie Roger Gregg; and sister: Betty Lou Reynolds.
Pallbearers will be Gregg McCurry, Phillip McCurry, Timothy Reynolds, Tracy Gregg, Wesley Dowell, and Brady Kidwell
Honorary Pallbearers will be the staff and friends at ALPS Adult Day Services, and the Congregations of Carter’s Chapel and Bales Chapel UM Churches.
The family will receive friends at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home from 5-7p.m. Wednesday, May 3rd, 2023.
The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 7p.m. with Reverend Mark Wills officiating and Pastor Gregory Blair.
Interment will be in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens at 11a.m. Thursday, May 4th, 2023.
Family and Friends are asked to meet at 10a.m. Thursday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home to go in procession to cemetery.
