She was a former employee of GreeneValley Dev. Center and attended Hunts Chapel Church. She was an honor graduate of South Greene High School and also a graduate of ETSU with a bachelor of science in psychology.
Monica was a big hearted, free spirited, open minded, intelligent, imaginative, deep thinker, who loved music, the earth, and all God’s creatures and who advocated for the rights of the overlooked and underappreciated members of society.
She was a beloved daughter, mother, grandmother and friend, and her two daughters and grandson were her world, her pride and joy. She was known for lighting up a room when she entered and for giving heart felt, compassionate advice to anyone who needed her.
Monica is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law: Jaelyn Arrington and husband Colton Arrington of Greeneville and Raina Shoemaker and fiancé Miranda Ellis of Tampa, FL; one grandson: Cade Arrington; a father and mother: Larry and Sandy Hogan of Greeneville, and two special cousins: Amy Rose and Heather White.
She was preceded in death by a brother: Matt Hogan.
The funeral service will held at 3:00 pm on Sunday at Hunts Chapel Church with Rev. Jon Pursley and Rev. Jerry Campbell officiating. Interment will follow the service in Hunts Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Matthew Rose, Ronnie Holt, Jason Shoemaker, Scott Swift, Colton Arrington, Miranda Ellis, Hayley Stills and Brendon Lawing.
The body will be taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes preceding the service. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Saturday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home. Kiser-Rose Hill is in charge of arrangements.
