Lyle was a Farmer, Welder, and retired Employee of TDOT.
He was a member of Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church, and as a devoted Christian he would spend many hours visiting the sick in hospitals and ministering in the nursing homes.
Lyle is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Teresa Smith of Greeneville; daughter and son-in-law, Natasha and Brian Gridley of Greeneville; grandchildren, Benjamin Gridley, Tabatha Cutshall and husband Chris, Matt Smith and wife Anika; great grandchildren, Hunter Cutshall, Emberlee Smith, Liam Smith, Knox Smith, Jadan Milhorn, Matthew Milhorn, Nathan Milhorn, Wyatt Milhorn, Evan Milhorn, and Myleah Milhorn; a brother and sister-in-law, Gary “Gus” and Pat Smith of Chuckey; and three sisters, Evelyn Cansler, Wanda Baines, and Alice Arrington; former daughter-in-law, Kathy and husband, John Tittle; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was the son of the late W.J. and Gertrude Smith, and is preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Smith; son, Jeff Smith; granddaughter, Alex Gridley; brother, Lynn Smith; and brothers-in-law, Bob Cansler, Buddy Arrington, and Kenneth Baines.
The family will receive friends at 2-4pm and 5-7pm on Wednesday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will follow at 7pm in the Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel, officiated by Rev. Gary Gass.
Interment will be held in Mt. Zion Cemetery at 11am on Thursday. Family and Friends are asked to meet at the Funeral Home at 10am to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers are Matt Smith, Benjamin Gridley, Chris Cutshall, Colton Edwards, Michael Bailey, and Conny Bailey.
