He retired from Magnavox and was a member of the Lower Light House Church.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law: Tammy and Keith Dyer of Bulls Gap; Lori Turner of Greeneville; two sons and daughters-in-law: Todd and Holly Mitchell of North Carolina, Tim and Chrissy Mitchell of Greeneville; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two sisters: Louise Click and Kathleen Alexander, all of Greeneville; one brother and sister-in-law: Doyle and Nancy Mitchell of Afton; sisters-in-law: Birda Mitchell of Georgia and Patsy Mitchell of Virginia; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was the son of the late Tipton and Hazel Mitchell and was preceded in death by three
brothers: Stanley, Hubert and James Emmitt Mitchell; three sisters: Lois Mitchell, Edith
Mitchell Burgner and JoAnn Mitchell.
The funeral service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2013, in the Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel.
Rev. Buster Shelton and Rev. Jay Hugh Jennings will officiate. Interment will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, at Herman Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Cody Turner, Freddie Johnson, Jimmy Burgner, Bobby Alexander, Doyle Mitchell, Joe Brown, Jeff Mitchell and Charles Click.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
