She was employed by the Greeneville City School System at Hal Henard Elementary School. Sue was passionate about her role at Hal Henard Elementary and she was deeply loved by the staff and students on whose lives she made an impact.
Sue’s kind and loving personality was shown in her life and all who knew her, loved her. She was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, and role model. She was an inspiration to all who surrounded her, and her life will be remembered as a legacy.
Survivors include her husband: Bill Brown of Greeneville; two sons and daughter-in-law: Bonson F. Jr. and Brittnee Cook and Brian C. Cook and his fiancé, Jackie Estrada, all of Johnson City; step daughter and step son-in-law: Renae and Dr. Robert Helm of Jonesborough; step son: Shane Brown of Greeneville; four step grandchildren: Kurt Johnson, Peyton Helm, Dylan Helm, and Avery Brown; mother: Shirley Hensley of Greeneville; three sisters and brothers-in-law: Marsha and Denny Smith of Greeneville, Melody and Mike Meadows of Asheville, North Carolina, and Denise and Keith Dixon of Greeneville; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Chris and Rhonda Hensley of Greeneville and Lynn and Kathy Hensley of Washington County; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Doyle and Patricia Brown of Greeneville; several nieces and nephews; and special friends: Deanna Martin and Tammie Douthat of Greeneville.
She was preceded in death by her father, Clyde Hensley, of Greeneville.
Sue’s family would like to show their gratitude to Amedisys Hospice of Greeneville, whose care is greatly appreciated. The family would also like to express their sincere thanks to all of their friends for support and prayers during this difficult time.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 15 in Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel with Rev. Leonard Cutshaw and Rev. Raymond Cantrell officiating.
Interment will follow in Cross Anchor Cemetery.
His pallbearers will be Teddy Lawing, Dean Spradling, Dustin Smith, Robert Denson, Grant Hensley, Ken Cogdell, and Jacob Denson.
The staff at Hal Henard Elementary, Greeneville/Greene County EMA volunteers, and Amedisys Hospice, including staff members: P.J. Thornburg, Carrie Stoner, Debra Waddell, Denise Clever, and Freda Morgan will serve as honorary pallbearers.
