Mrs. Ricker was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church for over 50 years.
She was the daughter of the late Gernia and Sarah Fanning. Her late husband was William Louis Ricker who passed away in February of 1994. She was a native of Greene County and lived most of her life near Tusculum, Tennessee.
She is survived by a daughter and caregiver, Nancy Ricker; son and daughter-in-law: Louis and Carolyn Ricker; granddaughter and husband, Michelle and Christopher Gentry; great grandson, Jett Gentry; great granddaughter, Kinsey Gentry; two sisters: Mable Carey of Erwin, Tennessee, and Juanita Raines of Shady Valley, Tennessee; one brother, Gordon Fanning of Greene County; several nieces and nephews; and a special cousin, Nita Dunbar.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Sue Brooks, in September, 1996, and a nephew, Greg Lashlee.
Preceding Mrs. Ricker’s death, her niece, Kay Blackerby, moved in to the home to help care for her. Vickie and Charles Ricker also helped in her final days.
She graduated from Camp Creek High School and East Tennessee State University. She was an elementary teacher for thirty-six years and retired from Greeneville City Schools.
The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jerry Jones officiating.
Interment will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be David Lashlee, Charles Ricker, Jett Gentry, Chris Gentry, and her nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Women of Asbury United Methodist Church, 201 South Main Street, Greeneville, TN 37743.
The family wished to extend a special thanks to the staff of Caris Hospice.
