John Lee Barner

He retired from the Tennessee Department of Transportation.

Mr. Barner was a member of Pruitt Hill United Methodist Church.

Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law: Betty and Chris Gause, Rochelle and Allen Palmer, and Shakeena Wells; two sons and a daughter-in-law: Adam and Lori Wells and Josh Wells; grandchildren: DaShaud Moore, Kameron Fields, Rayvon Fields, Tyreek Barner, A'marha Gause, Saimara Palmer, Shanika Gause, Akeem Jenerette, KeSean Wells, Mahayla Wells, Tavian Jones, Kilana Wells, Ieisha Jordan, Jaden Nease; three great grandchildren; mother: Willie Kate Barner; a sister: Georgia Gallaher and husband, Gerry; several aunts and uncles; special nephews: Ronez Wilson, Norman Wilson, Richard Moore Jr., Keith Miller, Randy Barner; special nieces: Gail Barner, Kendra Wallace, Lyndia Barner, Yvonne Hamilton, Lisa Rader, Traci Rader, Shardaye Releford, Dainyale Moore, Karen Moore; six sisters-in-law; and special friends: Daniel McAffry, Rey Lezcano, Tim Nease, Jermey Parton, William Barner, Calvin Barner, Allen Barner, Michael Hamilton, Larry Hatley, and Charles Barner.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dollie L. Barner; father, James Stanley Barner; a sister, Carol Rader; brothers: Stanley Rey Barner and Billy Mack Barner; nephews: Kevin Barner, Gibson Wilson, Henry Chuck Rader; and a son-in-law: Kevin Jones.

The family will receive friends 1-3 p.m. Saturday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Ross Hilton, Pastor William Pace, and Rev. Rochelle Maxwell officiating.

Interment will follow in Pruitt Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Calvin Barner, William Barner, Allen Barner, Daniel McAffry, Jermey Parton, Chester Ricker, Jesse Barner, Dean Barner, Charles Barner, and Richard Moore Jr.

Honorary pallbearers are TDOT employees, Dr. Phillip Thwing and staff, and the staff of Smoky Mountain Hospice.
