Jeff’s family life began at the First Church of God over 40 years ago where he met Karen Wicker Jones on church volleyball night; they were soon married October 1984. Eventually they dedicated to the Lord and raised 2 children in the church, Jedidiah Jones (wife Rachel and children Jayce, Aubrey, and Amelia) and Abigail Jones Boven (husband Sam). Jeff’s pride and joy were not only his children but his 3 precious grandchildren as well.
Jeff enjoyed being involved in various activities at First Church over the years. He sang in the choir, participated in various roles for the Life of Christ Easter Drama, participated in Promise Keepers, traveled to Haiti with the church mission team, was the caretaker for Locust Springs Christian Retreat Center for several years, served as a Steward, was a part of the Crisis Response Team, and started the Monday night pickle ball ministry. Jeff considered the church his family.
Every morning for over 15 years, Jeff would play racquet ball, practice Jeet Kune Do, or play pickle ball where he was a member at the YMCA. While staying active he made many friends over the years.
Jeff worked at DTR/SumiRiko for twenty years and was retired for two years. During his retirement, he began to live his life to the fullest by going on adventurous motorcycle rides, wood working, finishing projects around his home and his children’s homes.
As a lifetime member of the Defenders Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club of Greeneville, Jeff held the position of treasurer. He considered the group of members as brothers that only fellow motorcyclists and club members could understand.
Jeff played on the Roy Hobbs Baseball League and enjoyed the fellowship with all the players on the team.
Jeff attended and loved to watch all the sports his grandchildren played. Basketball, cheerleading and volleyball for Doak Elementary and Baseball for the Chuckey Ruritan, he never missed the chance to cheer them on!
